Oh, so close. Sometimes an acrylic underpainting will resolve into a finished portrait on its own, but this portrait of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk needs a few additional hours of overpainting in oil before I can say its completed. The difference between continuing to work on a painting in either acrylic or oil is a matter of translucency. It isn't that acrylics can't be translucent; they just tend to cancel out the color beneath to a higher degree than oil.
After writing his first novel, Chuck decided not to hole himself up for five decades and lock all of his unpublished works in a safe. Thanks.
