Started two new pancake portraits; the first is a present for Facebook friend Laura, the second is a new Obama pancake.  As with the recent Chuck Colson, I think I'll tint the acrylic with a thin but softening layer of oil paint and overpaint again with acrylic.

My Candy Pen Pal

Claire Smyth from The World of Kitsch is my candy pen-pal. We recently exchanged candy care packages; this is the haul I recently received from the nation of Ireland-

 
 The post card has a very nice personalized greeting on the back.



None of the candy I received from Claire is readily available in the States.  The problem with choosing penpal sweets is that so much US candy is long established in the global psyche. That meant not much chocolate, except for the Minnesota produced Pearson's Nut Goodie, which unfortunately recently lost local ownership.  A new institution is the unique Cakedy, which I learned about just a few days after mailing. Darn!

From top to bottom I've ranked Clair's haul in order of goodness, as assessment concurred by my wife Chris who assisted.  The Caramac is basically a caramel flavored white chocolate bar, delightfully capable of making that occasional white chocolate treat a bad habit.  The Yorkie has an interior of finely crushed rocha.  The Kinder Bueno is full of hazelnut cream; good but takes a moment to get used to-American's aren't accustomed to candy which really isn't sweet.  The Choco's were fine. The Turkish Delight is a gift from hell.  The interior is a perfume flavored gel made of starch and sugar; wrapping it in chocolate was a cruel enticement.

As I originally emailed to New York Mag in the aftforementioned post but then thought twice and reedited before pressing the send button-

The Mitt Romney male nude gay art painting is more an expression of personal artistic issues than any sort of political statement.  Lately I've been keeping a number of affordable private self nudes up for auction on Ebay, and they've been doing well but my family is hesitant. The pivot point of respectability seems to be the sex penis.  During the past month I decided to go pro penis and the response from art collectors and others who buy purchase commission interesting naked figurative young model art online has been positive.


So the Romney is basically a self-portrait.  I'm nearly an ex-Christian but have some personal faith remaining but expect nothing — handsome and alluring hung Mitt is certainly coming from a unique place on that issue as well.  From a purely self-promotional standpoint he needs to reveal himself ( and not necessarily just by displaying pictures or photographs of his big muscles or huge cock or cute ass or hairy balls  or other sexy naughty bits) to become more likeable, but how does he do that without offending?  He's been blessed by God but others cannot be unless they accept.

The painting is 2 by 3 foot in acrylic on stretched canvas, and is mailed in a sturdy, hand-made foamboard mailer. Bloody knife not included.
I painted a coating of silver irridescent over the painting, which really makes Jonathan's face 'pop' but it didn't help with the photography.  The painting has more detail and depth than the photos display.

Coupon Suzy With A Pancake On Her Head

I've decided to just let that first portrait of Coupon Suzy sit for as long as necessary until I can decide how to finish it.  I think I just picked at it over too many trips to pizza and lost the original thematic notion. At first Suzy had a mohawk made out of coupons, then she had hair made out of coupons.  I don't know-

-but this struggle explains the simplicity of the newer portrait.  The pancake is the Coupon Suzy website and the pancake drip is a coupon being printed, which Shannon's arched eyebrow points at. That's it..but all that is necessary.

I've posted this portrait to Ebay auctions at the starting price of .99 cents.

Dick Clark Memorial Portrait Art Painting

A memorial portrait of a younger American Bandstand host Dick Clark, in black and white on a 2 by 3 foot stretched canvas.



Would look very nice in a 50's themed restaurant, a fancy garage, or with a large vinyl collection.



I'm pleased with the likeness. The canvas is a wrap-around and I've painted the edge black, so it will look classy displayed without the expense of a frame.

This is the first of a series of large black and whites which I'm offering for a flat $100, which includes free delivery within the US, and 20 internationally.  Cheap, cheap!  Fun to create because I'm just as much drawing the portrait as painting, which allows me to be expressive with linework. As always, the portraits are much more impressive in person than what I'm able to capture with a camera.

New Tebow....

A Tim Tebow Large Blue Christian Faith Art Painting Portrait

A new painting of New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. This replaces a Tebow portrait I accidentally put my foot through in the studio, and is one of three Tebow portraits I've had to repaint for one reason or another since I started painting him a few months ago.

I'm working on a new painting of Tim but in a different pose. Hopefully that will break the curse.

A Happy Easter Painting Art Gallery

I was really hoping to have one or two new paintings completed for Easter Sunday, but I spent most of yesterday revising my Michael Jackson painting from last week and working on a new portrait of Tim Tebow.  I'll have the Tebow posted later today.

Madgalena's Michael Jackson Eyes Painting, Revised

Magdalena's Michael Jackson Tear portrait painting, revised.  I finished this painting a few days ago, but then decided to put a few more hours into the canvas before mailing it off to Gdańsk.  I painted a series of much smaller MJ's a few years ago; this is my first full color portrait emulating the style of those smaller works. The painting is in acrylic, utilizes a good amount of copper and bronze metallics, and is sealed with a clear acrylic matte spray, the latter of which evens out the sheen but you can still appreciate the metallic.  The 2 by 3 foot canvas is a wrap-around and I paint the edge black, so it displays well without a frame.  Currently I'm asking 200 for one of these plus mailing (at cost) which is between 30 and 50 depending on how far you are from the State of Minnesota in the United States.
