I see some similarity betweeen these two Black artists, both battling critics within their own racial groups and the media at the same time, both being very spiritually centered and choosing to express their faith as a unique statement through their work, but both eventually consumed by a haunted past they could not escape.
So, God bless them both. It's nice to think of them both together and eternally at their most hopeful.
